The technology that allows physicians to treat brain lesions (stereotactic radiosurgery) is now available to treat tumors in other parts of the body, such as the prostate or lung. Recent advances enable physicians to localize the diseased organ accurately in a few minutes. These same advances can now provide patients with a fully integrated 3-D treatment plan that includes a tightly controlled volume of radiation that "conforms" to the exact shape of the tumor.
