WE STRIVE TO HONOR YOUR CULTURE & YOUR LANGUAGE

At Mission, our patients and our staff come from many different backgrounds, and from all over the world. We speak many languages.

To make sure that we respect and understand this diversity, we follow national standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS). That means that we work to understand your background and communicate in your language.

Our Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services help us to:

  • Improve patient and provider satisfaction.
  • Prevent misunderstanding, inconsistent service, and staff frustration.
  • Use the most efficient and effective ways of communicating with you.
  • Provide your education and discharge instructions in a way you can understand, in your language and respectful of your culture.
  • Use our qualified interpreters, bilingual staff, and volunteers to communicate with non English speakers.
  • Build bridges instead of boundaries.

Mission recognizes diversity in many forms including race, gender, age, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs. Honoring diversity in our patients, visitors, and staff goes hand in hand with our MERIT Values of Mercy, Excellence, Respect, Integrity,Trust, and Teamwork.
