Mission's Integrative Healthcare staff is committed to providing our patients with a healing, therapeutic experience. Our physician and nurses are trained in both medical and holistic/complementary therapies. We are committed to high quality, family-centered care that makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches. Our administrative staff provides patients and practitioners with the support they need to ensure each patient feels heard and cared for during their stay at Mission Hospital
Lourdes Lorenz, RN, MSN-IH, AHC-BC, NEA-BC, HTPa
Director
Lourdes Lorenz has been an RN for almost 30 years with experience in critical care. She is board certified as an Advanced Holistic Nurse, Advanced Nurse Executive, and is a Healing Touch apprentice. She is a well-known nursing educator and speaker Western North Carolina, who promotes Holistic Nursing and lectures on integrative healthcare and evidence-based complementary modalities. Her interest and areas of expertise include medicinal herbs, indigenous healing systems, energy healing, clinical aromatherapy, guided imagery, meditation, and dance movement
Danna Park, MD, FAAP
Medical Director
Dr. Park specializes in Integrative Medicine and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona and is a graduate of the University's Residential Fellowship in Integrative Medicine, one of the first and oldest clinical integrative medicine fellowships offered in the United States. She has particular interests in vitamins and supplements, guided imagery and hypnosis and wellness for healthcare providers. In addition, she has authored chapters on wellness for healthcare providers as well as on integrative approaches for vascular disease and gastrointestinal disorders.Dr. Park received her M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.
Denise Anthes, RN, BSN, MBA, HN-BC, HTCP/I
Manager
Denise has practiced holistic nursing for 35 years and is board certified as a Holistic Nurse. She also holds national certifications as a Healing Touch practitioner and Instructor. As a speaker and practitioner Denise balances the art, or heart, and the science, or research, of high quality holisitic nursing. She serves as a regional and national speaker on various topics related to energy therapies, holisitic nursing, integrative healthcare and Healing Touch. She has been a nursing educator, served on MAHEC's Regional Advisory Board for Health Care Disparity and currently serves on the Research Advisory Council for Healing Touch program. Denise enjoys ballroom dancing, gardening and spending time in nature, and her motto in life and nursing is to "start with the heart."
Cindy Barkei, RN, BSN, HN-BC, HTCP
Holistic Nurse Specialist
Cindy has been a practicing nurse for more than 35 years. She has always believed in the holistic approach for her patients. She has been in a variety of positions, from bedside nursing to management. As a Holistic Nurse Specialist, she assists patients with their healing journey by offering therapies that promote self healing. Since she believes strongly in self care for everyone, she loves nature treks and quilting.
Pamala Hardin
Pet Therapy Coordinator
Pam, a North Carolina native, has been registered as a Delta Society Pet Partner since 1999 and founded the Pet Therapy program at Mission Hospital the same year. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Appalachian State University. Before joining the Integrative Healthcare program, she worked in the Mission Hospital Medical Staff and Legal Departments. She is currently the human companion to a blind Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen therapy dog named Chessie.
Nancy Rankins
Administrative Assistant
Nancy joined the Integrative Healthcare Department in August 2008. She is an Asheville native and has been employed with Mission for 22 years. Before the merger of Memorial Mission and St. Joseph's Hospitals, Nancy worked for 14 years as Office Manager in St. Joseph's Education Department. She spent the next 8 years as a Human Resources Tech II. In 1985, Nancy received a degree in Data Processing from Anchorage Community College and in 2001 she received an Associate in Applied Science in Human Services from Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College. Nancy has also completed Healing Touch Level 3.
