Maternal/Newborn Education and Outreach

Maternal/Newborn Education and Outreach

The volume and complexity of information needed to care for new moms and their babies can be staggering, and updated technology and methods of care can shift the way you deliver your care. That's why the Newborn Education Program at Fullerton Genetics Center exists. We help nurses, physicians, and other women's and children's healthcare providers in several ways:

  • Provide continuing education and training to develop skills
  • Implement evidence-based practices
  • Monitor trends in our region and develop plans for addressing those trends
  • Consult and collaborate with healthcare providers throughout the region
  • Help standardize the system of maternal and newborn care between Mission Hospital and other community hospitals

Pregnancy Loss Program
If you care for women who have lost a child while pregnant or women who have lost an infant, you witness their grief, and you may experience those feelings too. Our Pregnancy Loss Outreach Program provides support and educational for staff, physicians, and hospital employees who care for women who lose a child. Our Pregnancy Loss Coordinator processes and facilitates all requests and issues surrounding the loss of a pregnancy from conception through the first year of life.

Grief Support Group

As an important part of the pregnancy loss program, we offer a support group for women and their families experiencing the terrible grief of pregnancy loss. The group, called "A love not forgotten," meets bi-weekly.
