Please take the time before your appointment to consider the questions in Step 1 and to read the important information about your appointment in Step 2. We're ready to work with you and help you get started on the road to improved health. Your preparation helps us make the most of our time together.
Think about the issues that are important to your immediate needs and concerns. Make a list and bring it with you. Here are some points for you to consider:
-
Symptoms: Where are they located? Can you describe the pain in terms of sharp, stabbing or dull, acute (appeared suddenly) or chronic (bothering you a while). When did symptoms start? Do they limit your mobility or normal activities? Do they get worse (or better) at certain times or with specific movement?
-
Goals: What do you want to accomplish? Are looking to gain control of a problem that has been bothering you for years? Are you an athlete needing targeted training or skills? Do you want to get back to doing activities that you have not been able to do in the past?
-
Questions: If you have specific questions about what might have caused your problem, long-term outlook, and different treatment options, write them down and bring them to your appointment.
-
History: Do you have any other health conditions? Is there a family history of relevant problems?
-
Clothes: Please wear or bring loose fitting clothing that is easy to move around in.
-
Time: Plan for your initial appointment to take 60 to 90 minutes. Follow-up visits usually last 30 to 45 minutes. The free consultation for minor injuries is about 15 minutes.
-
Insurance: We file all forms of insurance for physical therapy and fitness programs. Please be aware that we do not verify individual benefits and recommend that you contact your insurance company if you have any questions. If you're covered by BCBS please realize that with some plans, hospital services, including physical therapy, are applied to the inpatient deductible. You may want to check with your company to see how this affects you.
-
Canceling or Rescheduling: You'll achieve the best results from your physical therapy program by keeping regular appointments but if you need to cancel or reschedule please call 828-213-0850 at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. At Mission your appointment times are reserved exclusively for you and there are others seeking services who need that time if you can't make it. If you do not show for your appointment or have excessive same day cancellations, your therapy may be discontinued.
-
Snow Policy: In the event of inclement weather we follow AB Tech policy for delays and closings. This is announced by 5:30 am on www.abtech.edu (phone number 828-254-1921), WLOS TV and WCQS FM. If AB Tech announces a delayed opening at 10:00 am, then the clinic will also open at 10:00 am. If your appointment is before 10:00 it will be cancelled. Please call the clinic to reschedule the appointment at a convenient time for you.
