Megan Collins It was December 30th when I took a turn for the worse, quite literally. While driving down Leicester Highway, my car skidded and crashed into a retaining wall. Beyond that, I don't remember much. An ambulance arrived on the scene and transported me to the emergency room, where I quickly underwent a CT scan. The results revealed a lacerated liver, torn aorta and femur fracture.
Trauma Patient
I was medically sedated for two or three days before the surgeries to make sure I was strong enough. I was released on January 7th. I don't remember much about my time in the hospital, but I'm walking again and expected to make a full recovery. The follow-up care has been amazing!
I was treated by a team of physicians and surgeons who worked together to ensure my ability to return to a full and normal life. I just had my last follow-up appointment and am looking forward to hiking this summer with my dogs. Return to Trauma Stories
