Bruce Thorsen is President and CEO of Mission Healthcare Foundation.
Bruce has been the President and CEO of Mission Healthcare Foundation since 1990. He has over 40 years of experience in non-profit health care at three different hospitals. He has helped to create three successful hospital-connected foundations and served as a consultant in creating ten additional such foundations at hospitals throughout the Midwest and South.
Bruce is a native Iowan and a graduate of Drake University, Des Moines. He has done graduate work in Mass Communications at the University of Iowa. He is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America and the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy.
While at Mission he has helped to grow annual new gift income from $600,000 a year in 1990 to over $11 million in 2011. The amount of new gifts/grants received by Mission during his tenure totals over $125 million.
Bruce and his wife, Jan, have been married 43 years. They are the parents of four grown children and have three grandchildren. Bruce’s hobbies include classic cars, hiking in the southwest United States, tennis, reading and fitness.
