Nursing is... a way to give back. After many years in several varied and less than fulfilling careers, I wanted something challenging and hopefully more meaningful.
My five years in nursing has definitely been challenging. But what began as a way to 'give back' to others has produced many more rewards for me personally...in the form of sincere thanks from a patient or family, or a laugh shared at bedside, or word from a patient that they don't feel quite so overwhelmed due to the care or teaching they have received.
