Many people undergoing ostomy care experience a wide range of emotions prior to, during, and after surgery. These types of urinary or intestinal diversion surgeries may be a blessing to some or a devastating blow to others. Patients must adapt or adjust in their own way and in their own time.
At Mission's Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center, our Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses, or CWOCNs, help you and your loved ones adjust to life with an ostomy device. They are highly trained to provide acute and rehabilitative care for people with disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems.
In addition to treating the physical effects of an ostomy device, our CWOCNs strive to empower patients to take control of their own care, through careful instruction, education, counseling and research. We work with patients and their families to design a comprehensive care plan designed to address the physical and emotional effects associated with ostomy care - one that will allow patients to adapt to their new found situation and continue to live normal, productive lives.

Our Team
Mission Hospital's Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center has a skilled team of physicians and clinicians specially trained in wound care. The staff is committed to staying abreast of the relevant literature, research and technology in order to provide the most comprehensive, high quality care to you and your loved ones.
This multi-disciplinary team includes physicians, certified physician assistants, certified wound care nurses, certified wound specialists, certified hyperbaric physicians, certified wound ostomy continence nurses, certified lymphedema therapists, certified foot care nurses and certified nursing assistants.
Referral and Contact Information
Referrals to the Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center can be made by your physician or you may directly to set up an appointment for yourself as a physician referral is not necessary. (All patients must have an open or draining wound as criteria to be seen in the Wound Healing Center).
