Nursing is...caring; connecting on a deep and personal level with families and patients through all aspects of life.  Nurses are integral in the medical team and are unique in that they are at the bedside and able to be the eyes of the physician at times and the voice of the patient.  Nursing is compassion in action.

I have the privilege as a nurse on the Pediatric units to help families and young patients through critical illnesses such as cancer, accidental traumas, and routine surgeries or procedures. As their nurse I not only help them through the acute phase of care and treatment, but I can also simply laugh, play, and imagine with them. Kids are my heroes. They will tolerate so much more than adults ever could and be completely honest, forgiving, and present all at once. As a Pediatric nurse I have the unique calling to assist my patients and their families in meeting developmental milestones and goals and have been honored to be a part of their just beginning lives as well as their untimely deaths, all faced with such courage and love that only the purity of a child can bring. I am honored to be a nurse and to witness my patient's lives in all aspects of life.
