William Maples, MD has full-time responsibility for quality and patient safety throughout Mission Health and leads Mission's work with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
Before joining Mission in December, 2010, he was a 25-year practicing physician and quality leader at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. He also served as an Associate Professor of Oncology at Mayo's College of Medicine and as a Clinical Professor at Brooks College of Health at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. At Mayo he worked with key leadership in the implementation of quality measures .
Dr. Maples earned his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Wisconsin, Madison campus, and completed his residency and fellowship in oncology at the Mayo Graduate School College of Medicine.
He and his wife Mary have two adult sons.
